Acts 4:32-33 “Now the full number of those who believed were of one heart & soul, & no one said that any of the things that belonged to him was his own, but they had everything in common. And with great power the apostles were giving their testimony to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, & great grace was upon them all.”
“He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world”
(1 John 4:4).
Col 1:10 “…so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to Him, bearing fruit in every good work & increasing in the knowledge of God.”
Jn 17:20-21, 23
“I do not ask for these only, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word, that they may all be one, just as You, Father, are in Me, & I in You, that they also may be in Us, so that the world may believe that you have sent Me…I in them & you in Me, that they may become perfectly one, so that the world may know that You sent Me & loved them even as You loved Me.”
The early church was of one heart & soul (Acts 4:32), they met each other’s needs, & there was great grace w/unity in sharing the gospel (Acts4:33). Acts 4 is a time after the resurrection & Day of Pentecost. They demonstrated the power of God, which centered around the idea of purpose. This second part of “Existence” outlines why the church is in existence, why God poured out His grace upon the early church, & the type of power the early church possessed as a result of their zeal for fulfilling the purposes of God as a unit of believers.
