The ninth commandment states, “You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor” (Exodus 20:16). This commandment usually applies to lying or truth telling. Although the Hebrew phrase ed seqer refers to a witness giving testimony, the law throughout the Old Testament pertaining to this commandment extends it to truth telling as a character strength.
This sermon addresses multiple applications to this with commandment in our contemporary era because God’s Word has to have application for us. Paul said, “For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through insurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope” (Romans 15:4). My hope is that as you listen to this sermon, you would receive divine illumination, instruction, and encouragement in your walk.
