Part 1 of a six part series entitled “The Big Picture.” Today’s introductory sermon lays out the foundation for messages on the world view that God gave to the crown of His creation (human beings). All of Scripture points to two scripts; God’s script & the script of others. The church is called to keep God’s “big picture” in the center of all we do. Jesus stated to the church: “You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out & trampled under people’s feet. You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, & it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works & give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” To fulfill this call we MUST be prepared to address the culture around us. Paul warns us that the world can and wills to conform us, but we have the tools to battle the world’s attempt to conform us to the worldly culture – we are to DAILY renew our mind by God’s Word (Romans 12:2); how else can we know His good, acceptable, & perfect will? Tune in to this awesome Word that God has given to us on the metanarrative.
