Jesus was looked upon as a non-traditional rabbi with an approach to discipleship that was revolutionary and unique. Unlike the rabbi’s of the time who evaluated potential disciples for sharpness, greatness, and intelligence before accepting them as disciples (they only chose the best), Jesus sought the willing. He did not care about a person’s ability; He cared about their availability.
