In 2010, on a bright spring morning, I encountered Church of the Way’s (then: Salem Baptist Church) youth group while they were distributing water at a bustling intersection. Curious, I inquired about the pastor’s name, setting the stage for a serendipitous connection. Later that year, I had the opportunity to meet Pastor Luis Vega while collaborating with my colleagues from the Florida Health Department on initiatives for HIV/STD prevention within the community, in partnership with Salem Baptist Church.
During the winter of the same year, I found myself at a memorable concert, where the band I played with was performing. It was here that Pastor Luis and I crossed paths once again, deepening our connection.
In the following year, 2011, my family of five embarked on a journey to find a spiritual home. Our quest led us to attend a service at Church of the Way during the spring, and we immediately felt a sense of belonging. By summer, we had become proud members of the congregation. My three children eagerly joined the youth group, while my wife found her place within the Women of Excellence women’s ministry, and I joined the Band of Brothers men’s ministry.
As the years unfolded, my involvement within the church grew. From 2015 to 2017, I dedicated my time and talents to the music ministry at CTW, cherishing the opportunity to worship through song.
Now, in 2024, I find myself serving in the media room, overseeing video production and visual presentations, while also humbly fulfilling the role of Trustee for the Church of The Way. It brings me immense joy and fulfillment to contribute to the vibrant tapestry of our church community.
